State: Uttar Pradesh, Capital: Lucknow, Formation: 1November,1956. Latitude: 23°5'N to 31°2'N.
Longitude: 77°3'E to 84°3'E. Land area: 240928 sq.km, Population: 199812341. Total Districts: 75, State Animal: Barasingha, State Bird: Sarus crane, State Flower: Palash, Language: Hindi & Urdu.

Festivals: Mahashivratri, Magh mela(January-February), Holi(March), Janmastmi, Raksha Bandhan(August), Navratri, Dussehra(October), Diwali(October/November).

Climate: Summer(45°-21°C), Winter(32°-4°C), Monsoon(June to September).

Travel Season: October to March.


State Border: The state is bordered by Rajasthan to the west, Hariyana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi to the North west, Uttrakhand and an international border with Nepal to the North, Bihar to the East, Madhya Pradesh to the South and touched the states of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh to the Southest.

About State: Uttar Pradesh is the fifth largest and the most populous state in India. Along with this, this state is also important from religious and historical point of view. The Gangas, Yamuna, Saraswati, Saryu, Betwa, Ghaghra and Ramganga are larger and of religious importance in Hinduism are important rivers in the state. Mahatma Buddha preached knowledge and peace to the world at a place calmed 'Sarnath' in this region and about 2000 years ago, Sarnath was also the empire of the great emperor 'Ashoka'. Along with this, Uttar Pradesh has also been a stronghold of the 'Mughal Sultanate'.

Ayodhya: One of the seven sacred cities of the hindus, Birth place of Lord Rama, Temples.

Chitrakoot: Hindu Pilgrim Centre.

Fatehpur Sikri: Ancient capital of Akbar, Muslim Pilgrim cente, Palaces, Forts, Tombs.

Kushinagar: Buddhist Pilgrim Centre.

Lucknow: Historic Buildings and Architecture, Muslim cultural center.

Mathura: Birth place of Lord Krishna, Temples, Sacred cities of the Hindus.

Sarnath: Buddhist pilgrim center, Monasteries, stupas, Mausoleums.

Varanasi: Sacred cities of the Hindus, temple, sacred river banks, world's oldest cities.
